Marshal

I race RC cars, and casual RC racing has always had a timing problem. The transponder hardware exists and works, but the software around it assumes a club with a laptop and a race director. Marshal is the version for a backyard track or a parking lot: live timing and a leaderboard as transponders cross the line, practice, qualifying, and race modes, voice announcements that call lead changes and fastest laps, and a PDF of the results to AirDrop around afterward. It follows the race from the Lock Screen too.

It’s a collaboration with a friend, and the build is mostly his. It works with existing IR transponder decoders over Bluetooth, and a small USB-to-Bluetooth bridge we’re finishing lets an i-Lap decoder talk to an iPhone or iPad, so nobody has to buy new equipment to use it.
