Injecting iAds into iPhone Apps
O'Reilly Media · 2010 · 1h 30m
A 90-minute on-demand video course from the O’Reilly iPhone development series, covering integration of Apple’s iAds mobile advertising platform into native iPhone applications. The course walks through banner ad implementation, ad lifecycle handling, delegate patterns, and best practices for revenue without compromising user experience.
Recorded in late 2010, when iAds was Apple’s then-new ad platform and developers were figuring out how to monetize free apps without resorting to the cluttered banner experiences of the early mobile web. Apple discontinued iAds in 2016, but the underlying delegate-pattern and ad-lifecycle concepts carried forward into AdMob, MoPub, and the iOS advertising ecosystem that replaced it.
Part of a four-course iPhone development series released October–November 2010 alongside Optimizing Tables, Supporting Multitasking, and Consuming Web Services.
